The three-quarters view, whole-body image of Saint Basil turned towards the right side, and holding an open scroll, is depicted in this icon. He is clad in whitish, high-priest vestments, comprised of a sticharion and epitrachelion, under a phelonion and omophorion in the polystavrion pattern. The icon belonged to a group of portable icons of related high-priests; these icons were most probably originally arranged on the apse of the Chapel of the Burning Bush.
